COPASAH is a community where practitioners who share an interest and passion for the field of community monitoring for accountability in health interact regularly and engage in exchanging experiences and lessons; sharing resources, capacities and methods; in the production and dissemination of conceptual, methodological and practical outputs towards strengthening the field; and in networking and capacity building among member organizations. This Community of practitioners was established as result of a three day ‘Practitioners Convening on Community Monitoring for Accountability in Health’ organised by the Accountability and Monitoring in Health Initiative (AMHI) of the Open Society’s Public Health Program in July 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
COPASAH consists of advocates and social accountability practitioners who are committed to ensuring health rights and health equity. This network aims to strengthen its members’ ability to demand accountability from their health systems and provides a platform for its members to exchange resources, experiences and lessons learned;

COPASAH strives to elevate the needs also elevates the needs of the most at-risk individuals within the health systems and raises awareness of how all citizens can actively participate in improving health and rights in their communities.
COPASAH currently has over 1,000 members across six regional hubs: Mesoamerica, South America, West Africa, East and Southern Africa, Europe, and South Asia. Additionally, there are three cross-cutting thematic hubs under the leadership of a Global Secretariat. This extensive network facilitates knowledge sharing, collaboration, and advocacy on a global scale
The Community of Practitioners on Accountability and Social Action on Health (COPASAH) was established in 2011 at a convening of practitioners in Johannesburg, South Africa. This network was born from a shared vision to improve health outcomes through community engagement and accountability. COPASAH aims to strengthen the capacity of its members to demand accountability from health systems, exchange knowledge and experiences, and collectively advance the field of social accountability in health. By fostering collaboration and learning, COPASAH empowers individuals and organizations to advocate for equitable healthcare and create healthier communities.
