Health Rights Advocacy Forum (HERAF) is a non-governmental organization that works through strategic partners in the form of Health Professionals Bodies and Associations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Patients’ Organizations, Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), Research Institutions and Universities involved in health issues, HIV&AIDS and Human Rights Networks among others to advocate for health as a fundamental human right in Kenya. It strives to work for a Kenyan community where health is upheld and enjoyed as a human right
HERAF’s key strategy is to empower Kenyans to enjoy the right to health through increased human rights awareness, evidence based policy advocacy, by strengthening citizens participation in health sector governance, and budgeting processes.

An audio visual on HERAF reflects upon the community monitoring based work of it in Kenya. It orients initiatives of community monitoring by HERAF and different steps initiated as training of community health workers, community monitors, data collection, development of score cards and action planning. According to community monitors the monitoring exercises and community score care cards have led to improvement in health services provisioning at the health facilities and the working relationship between the communities and the health service providers has enhanced, improvement in management of health funds, overall it has led to enhancement of social accountability at facility level and increased awareness among community members on health rights.
